History

The beginnings of the foundry industry in Kużnia Raciborska dates back to the XIX century, when nearby the already existing rolling mill shop there was built a small iron foundry, which cast bushings for axle wagons and carts. The proper development of foundry starts after World War I, when production of castings for mining and agriculture machinery began.

After the Second World War, there were further developments of the foundry.

In between years 1945 – 1980 new facilities were built: warehouse aisle, foundry No II, refinery and pattern warehouse and wood dryer.

As a result of separation of the casting section from the structures of Machine Tools Factory “RAFAMET” plc, on 1st February 1996 the Foundry “RAFAMET” Ltd was established. The 100% shareholders of our foundry is Machine Tools Factory “RAFAMET” plc.

The largest growth of company occurred after becoming independent and start working on their own account.

In between years 2001 – 2009 were the following developments activities: installation of automated line for the regeneration of molding sand, installation of dedusting system for vibration grates, two cupolas and induction furnace OTTO JUNKER with capacity 8t/h.

In 2006 the business newspaper “Business Pulse” awarded the Foundry RAFAMET Ltd with the title of “Business Gazelles 2006” and thus confirmed our membership in the elite club of fastest growing companies.

In May 2010, after meeting all the requirements and procedures, we obtained ISO 9001:2008 certification for the production of castings.

In September 2014 we obtained certificate of compliance Integrated Management System with norms ISO9001:2008 and ISO14001:2004

In November 2015 a modernized site for iron spheroidizing was started. When the  investment finished, the maximum weight of ductile castings to be produced increased from 10 t to 30 t.

In June 2016 the business name of Company changed to ODLEWNIA RAFAMET Sp. z o.o.

Company currently employs more than 170 employees and its annual turnover is approximately 50 million PLN. The total share in intra European Community supplies and exports is more than 70% of the total turnover of the company.

Our basic assortment is grey and ductile castings for engineering, automotive, shipbuilding, energy and mining.
